As you know…I’m on a real writing roll today! Have been for a few…thus my rotten lack of posting! However, I came across something a few years ago…an unusual treasure from my childhood! I remember watching this as a little girl…on TV…probably only a few times! However, it stuck with me forever and when I saw it available on DVD a couple of years ago…I HAD to have it! So what if you have to read the subtitles! I LOVE it! Originally entitled “Three Nuts for Cinderella,” this Czech version of the story just settled in my young mind! The DVD title is “Three Wishes for Cinderella” and I adore watching it!
The first video here is a music montage…a summary of the movie! The second is the ending without the subtitles! Just for fun…here’s a treasure from my childhood! (If you love it enough…Amazon does have it!)
Our family has always enjoyed “Family Movie Night.” I always try to make it special…even exciting…you know…make a special dessert and really give it some good PR a few days before. However, choosing movies the entire family will endure/enjoy can be a challenge. “Live Free or Die Hard,” is perfect for Dad and the 14 year old boy in your life…yet a five year old daughter would rather watch “Cinderella.” Mom might prefer “Sense and Sensibility,” and everyone’s 16 year old Edward-loving-sister would totally choose, “Win a Date With Tad Hamilton”…right? So…how do you choose…and how do you get everyone to comply and have fun? First of all, you’ve got to sort of train your family to understand that once a week you’re going to watch something together…and that it’s not about a certain individual…it’s about the family as a whole! Oh, you do give them hope…in letting them know you will periodically rotate in movies geared toward age groups and genders…or give each member of the family a turn to select the movie once in a while. Yet, most of the time it’s best if you just learn to pick something endurable/enjoyable (more on this theory later!). For now, here’s a clip from a favorite moment of one of our favorite family movies, “Summer Magic!” Even my boys like this movie…though once a year is certainly enough for them.
